The Start of a Tradition
Originally from Culiacan, Sinaloa, Jose Andres Romero became interested in piñata construction after attending art school back in 1977, this is when Jose started creating an array of artistic, colorful piñatas of all shapes and sizes.
The many steps involved in the construction of a single piñata and the meticulous attention to detail makes Señor Romero Piñatas a bit more time consuming than other traditional piñatas, though all the more special.
In the early 90’s Señor Romero received daily requests for many popular designs such as characters from The Simpson’s, Disney, and movie themes like Pete’s Dragon, and The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles being the most popular. Many people bought them, but never ended up breaking them.
Way before social media Señor Romero, due to his unique style of creating amazing piñatas, was featured in Life Magazine (1977), The Daily Wildcat Newspaper (1990), Arizona Daily Star (1991), and the Morning Talk Show (1992).

The Tradition Continues
I remember playing as a kid on the floor of my dad’s makeshift studio while he worked, he whistled and sang Mexican music as he crafted his art and never made anything he wasn’t especially proud of.
My dad sold and shipped custom piñatas across the United States in the early 90s and was a well-known “Piñatero” in Tucson and around southern Arizona.
I hope to honor his legacy as I continue on the tradition guided by his lessons and techniques.
A good piñata is the center piece of any celebration, I will build you something that everyone will remember for years to come.
